For all you Chemical Brothers and Sisters out there, mark your calendars. On 5 October, The Chems are playing a full live in show in London that’s going to be mind-bending!
For more than 20 years, The Chemical Brothers have been redefining the idea of electronic music. In that time, their live show has evolved from humble beginnings in dank London nightclubs to become one of the most incredible headline sets in the world. In addition to giant screens displaying psychedelic images, their live shows typically feature lasers, strobe lights and loads of surprises. It’s an experience not to be missed!
Plus, you’ll have a chance to hear The Chemical Brothers’ chart-topping songs like Galvanize, Elektrobank and Hey Boy Hey Girl as well as material from their latest studio album, 2015’s Born in the Echoes. Not only does their eighth album pay homage to their underground roots with tracks like Just Bang, but it also includes impressive pop-dance collaborations with St Vincent on Under Neon Lights and Beck on Wide Open.
We can’t get enough of their music videos, especially the one for Wide Open which is directed by The Chemical Brothers’ longtime collaborators Dom & Nic. It’s visually stunning to watch a dancer perform in a warehouse as her body undergoes a futuristic transformation.
Formed in 1989 in Manchester, the electronic music duo made up of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons are considered pioneers of the big beat sound. They released their earliest single, Song to the Siren (which actually came out under their Dust Brothers name), and emerged on the DJ circuit in 1992. When The Chems launched their debut album, Exit Planet Dust, in 1995, it was clear they would lead today’s strong electronic dance vanguard.
Now with eight albums – six of which have reached No.1 in the UK – and 13 top 20 singles to their name, The Chemical Brothers have proven their mastery of synthesis. And there’s nothing like being at one of their sense-shattering, mind-altering live shows. Fans are often so filled with joy and other emotions, they cry tears of delight!
The Chemical Brothers’ new London date on 5 October will follow a slew of summer festival appearances across Europe. Don’t miss out!
